AMA Gap annual benefit change

Health Cover Update
1 November 2006

The AMA Gap product pays superior benefits to members to cover the cost of doctors’ services delivered while you are an in-patient. Each year on 1 November the elements that determine the total amount of benefits paid for these in-hospital medical services are updated - Medicare schedule fees, Medicare determined patient outlays and the AMA List of Medical Services and Fees.

All AMA Gap benefits for medical services delivered on or after 1 November 2006 are paid at the updated rates. On an account for in-patient medical services charging the AMA List fee; up until to 1 November the maximum you would have paid was $61.50, now the maximum you will pay is $63.90. This amount is the Medicare determined maximum patient outlay for a professional service.

Please, remember that to claim AMA Gap benefits, you or your doctor must send your claims directly to us– do not submit your claims to Medicare.

If you do not have cover under the AMA Gap cover scheme and would like to know more contact our Customer Service team on 1800 226 126 or at info@doctorshealthfund.com.au.

Changes to ambulance cover for NSW Residents

Health Cover Update
20 September 2006

The Reciprocal Rights Agreements between the NSW Ambulance Service and the South Australian and Queensland ambulance services have ceased. If you are a resident of NSW travelling in South Australia or Queensland and wish to be covered for ambulance costs it will be necessary to take out travel insurance or ‘ambulance only’ insurance covering the State you are traveling in.
