The Hon John Fahey A.C retires as Chairman and Director of Doctors’ Health Fund
The Hon John Fahey A.C retired from the role of Doctors’ Health Fund Chairman of the Board in November after 5 years of service. Since taking on the Chairmanship, the Fund has grown from 11,700 to 22,500 memberships, currently insuring over 47,000 lives. Doctors’ Health Fund CEO Peter Aroney commented, ‘John has overseen the direction of the health fund during a successful period of growth and service to members. His insight and knowledge of our sector, as well as government policy, has been invaluable in seeing our strategy come to fruition. We thank John for his service and wish him the best in his retirement.’ John also retires from the Board of Avant Mutual Group where he served as a Director.
John will be succeeded as Chair by Mr Bruce Foy who has been a Director of Doctors’ Health Fund since 2007. Bruce is a professional non-executive Director and sits on other Avant boards. We look forward to the experience he will bring to this position.
Prof Simon Willcock resigns as Director of Doctors’ Health Fund Board
Simon has been a Director of Doctors’ Health Fund since we became part of the Avant Mutual Group in 2012. As a medical practitioner, Simon’s knowledge of the private health sector and commitment to the medical profession has ensured we have always retained our focus on our core constituency. Simon will continue in his profession of general practice, as well as participate in his other medical community roles. We thank him for his years of service to the health fund and our members.
Simon also resigned from his position as Chair of Avant Mutual in June and did not re-stand for re-election in last month’s Avant Board Members elections. Dr Beverley Rowbotham was welcomed as the new Chair of Avant Mutual, and will continue as a Director of Doctors’ Health Fund.
Welcome to new Directors for the Doctors’ Health Fund Board
With the departure of these board members, we welcome two existing Member Elected Directors of Avant Mutual to our board: Dr Doug Travis and Mr Tony Bofinger.
Both Doug and Tony bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from their respective professions to the fund and we look forward to their future contributions.
