A focus on privacy

We understand the importance of helping you have greater control over who can and can’t view your private health insurance details, which is why we provide our members with a Keep Private option.

What is Keep Private?

Keep Private is a function that (when requested by you) conceals claims information from other persons on your policy.

Claims information for 'Kept Private' members will also not be discussed with others on the policy.

What does this mean?

If you hold a policy with us you can choose to activate the Keep Private functionality. Once this setting is switched on, it impacts how:

  • your information is handled and shared with other members on the policy
  • your claims will appear (or not appear) on benefit statements and member-facing systems such as our Online Member Services portal and the Doctors’ Health Fund mobile app.

Why would I want to use Keep Private?

Members typically request their claims information be kept private because they do not want other people on their policy to see this information.

What does the setting do?

Generally, in the Online Member Services portal and the Doctors’ Health Fund mobile app, members can view claims details for all persons on their policy.
Once a member is 'Kept Private', their claims will no longer be accessible in yours or any other users claims history. Instead, what will appear is a ‘No claims found’ message.

In addition, our Member Services Team will not discuss your claims history with other persons on the policy, without your consent. If a member queries any of your claims, we will advise them that we can't discuss this information and refer them back to you.

Are there limitations?

Certain information, including your name, email, available benefits and limits, will still be accessible (and visible) to other members on the policy. Also, members under 16 years of age can’t utilise the Keep Private setting.

How can I activate Keep Private?

Activating Keep Private is simple. Contact our Member Services Team by phone or email and they will be able to assist.

Other important considerations

  • Taking out an individual policy may be the best option if you want all your information separate and would like to have independent control over your policy.
  • It's important we have your most up-to-date contact information (email and phone number), as these details will be used if we need to discuss your claims or contact you for any other reason.
  • You will need to provide personal bank details to allow for your claims to be paid into a personal nominated account.
  • If a member on your policy asks whether you’ve chosen to be ‘Kept Private’, we won't confirm or deny it. Instead, we will advise them they will need to check with you directly.
