As the cost-of-living crisis continues to be a concern in Australia, any opportunity to reduce your expenses is sure to be welcome. Rather than forgo your large flat white, we’ve come up with a way to help you access extras health insurance cover for free.
At Doctors’ Health Fund we’re committed to supporting early career doctors. One way we do this is providing free Lite Extras Cover when you hold a current Avant Intern/RMO1 Indemnity Insurance Policy.
This exclusive offer provides an introduction to Doctors' Health Fund, the only health fund created exclusively for doctors, their families, and the wider medical community.
Lite Extras allows you to access up to $800 in benefits for services including a dental check-up, prescription glasses and physiotherapy. And, because we have no preferred providers, you have the freedom to choose where you go.
Or, if you’reconsidering the need for hospital cover – maybe to avoid paying the Medicare Levy Surcharge – as an Avant Intern/RMO1 member, you can take out a Doctors’ Health Fund Smart Starter Bronze Plus or a Prime Choice Gold hospital policy and Avant will pay for the equivalent level of extras cover for two years.
The Medicare Levy Surcharge is a government tax of between 1 and 1.5% of your annual income, for anyone who earns more than $97,000 (or $194,000 for a couple) and doesn’t have private hospital cover. This surcharge can mean you’d be financially better off taking out a hospital policy, particularly when you get the added benefit of subsidised extras through Doctors’ Health Fund.
